DAY-13 A Day in Vancouver

Day-13: Tuesday, September 15, 2015

Starting Location: Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel, Vancouver, BC
Interim Location: Vancouver City Tour
Ending Location: Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel, Vancouver, BC

The Fairmont Pacific Rim is a first rate hotel. There will be no way we'll match this during the remainder of our trip. Breakfast was again served buffet style in the hotel dining room. I had a business call for the morning but no worries Sheila brought back a "box breakfast" loaded with you guessed it, BACON.

Our day was to begin with a  city tour encompassing many of the bridges, gardens, parks and other noteworthy sights. Our driver and guide, Fraulein Melanie met us around 9 AM (correction exactly at 9 AM) and we began our tour with a ride through Stanley Park. Today we had just a brief rain shower but by 10 or so it was over. Our first stop was to see a series of totem poles and hear Fraulein Melanie's version of the "meaning" of life as told in the images of totems. For this stop we had "10 minutes"!
"Not the Little Mermaid"

Around noon we stopped at a central market place for a coffee and chocolate break as well as experiencing all the sights, smells and noises of an open air type market. Fraulein Melanie relented and permitted us 45 minutes at which time we would meet "right here"!

On arrival back in the city center we ended the official tour and moved on to the FlyOver Canada (LINK) 4-D video experience. This is a Disney like flight beginning in eastern Canada and twenty minutes later ending on the west coast.

Following our "flight" we moved on to lunch at the Rogue Kitchen & Wetbar. The meal was good but not spectacular.

We had tickets for the Vancouver Tower so we took the ride up and had the chance to see a 360-Degree view of the city and surrounding area.

With a late lunch there wasn't much interest in dinner or even drinks for that matter. Everyone turned in for room rest though rumor has it that one or two of the group slipped out for a late night repast.
