Day-22: Thursday, September 24, 2015
Starting Location: Best Western, Coos Bay, OR
Interim Location: Oregon Coast
Ending Location: Best Western, Seaside, OR
We were not in a hurry this morning so we lingered around offering a little more time for catch-up and a call or two. We took advantage of the Best Western breakfast and around 11 AM departed. Before leaving Coos Bay we found the AAA store and picked up a couple of maps and travel books for Oregon and Washington.
Today we planned to progress north toward the Oregon-Washington border. Along the way we stopped for sea lion watching, lunch near Whale Cove where of course we saw whales and even a picture of a lighthouse. Since we had visited most of the Oregon coast lighthouses in 2013, we pressed on to Seaside arriving around 6 PM.
Sea lions cavorting in the surf and below, if you look closely you can see a Humpback whale flipper to the left of the boats, ya gotta believe!
Well in addition to the wildlife stops we did stop at the Tillamook Creamery for ice cream, salted caramel for Sheila and Dutch chocolate for me.
Before arriving in Seaside we made a brief detour to drive into Cannon Beach and took a look at the rock outcroppings along the beach. Cannon Beach is similar to so many beach resort towns, the same kind of shops, the same kind of food establishments and every type of cottage you can imagine.
For dinner tonight we broke out the leftovers from Little Italy, the antipasto salad, the spaghetti and meatballs and chicken parm. That along with cheese and crackers and fruit we had in the nifty Walmart cooler made for an easy dinner.
So ended another travel day, nothing much different from other travel days with no single event or location of note in the itinerary.
