Day-19: Monday, September 21, 2015
Starting Location: Best Western, Wilsonville, OR
Interim Location: En-route to Crater Lake area
Ending Location: Prospect Historic B&B, Prospect, ORNot much news today as for all us it will be mainly about travel.
As predicted we did return to the Biscuit Cafe. Different, table, different meals but again very satisfied customers with Sheila returning for a take-away hot chocolate.

After breakfast Jack and I went over to the Enterprise Car Rental place in Wilsonville as he and Pat were going to get a car for the day, visiting Portland before departing the area tomorrow. Here were the choices offered to Jack; I'll leave it to your imagination as to whether Jack selected the Mustang convertible or the Jeep Cherokee.By 1130 or so everyone was ready to depart and with Pat and Jack headed north, we were now a group of four. Diane, Greg, Sheila and I set our course south toward Crater Lake. Our route would take us south on I-5 via Salem and Corvallis turning onto OR-58 at Eugene with a scenic swing toward the east connecting to US-97 and finally OR-230 passing north and west of Crater Lake.
Along the way we passed a historic covered bridge at Lowell and almost t-boned a pick-up truck hauling a large RV. Seems the driver never saw us coming as he slowly entered onto our 55 MPH highway, in the end we all maneuvered well and made no contact.

The scenic OR-58 was a traffic nightmare primarily because of ongoing construction all along the route with several "flagman" one-lane routings. For some we were lucky and well timed for others not so much. The stop and go made a pleasant trip into a more harried trip.
Around 5:30 PM we arrived at our destination, the Prospect Historic B&B in, where else but, Prospect, OR. The inn has been around for over 120 years and its current owners have owned the property for about twelve years I believe. The B&B's age and history made it eligible for the "National Register of Historic Places" whatever that means. One mystery is the room naming, many named after famous people, e.g. Jack London, William Jennings Bryan, Theodore Roosevelt, Zane Grey and John Muir, etc. but was it merely a sales gimmick or did these folks actually stay at the Prospect Inn?
We checked in and were given our rooms, Diane and Greg at least had a queen size bed, most rooms aren't even large enough to contain such a large bed.
After a few minutes we retired to the front porch to await our 6:30 dinner seating and as usual met and chatted with people similar to ourselves here for the Crater Lake experience.
While "visiting", Greg had a Sauvignon Blanc, no surprise there; and for me, I had a beer; when I requested an IPA the waitress simply stated that she had a Nice Rack; to be clear, it was the name of the beer. It was a good beer and a big beer, nothing small about the Nice Rack!
For dinner I requested a cup of the beef vegetable soup, now this was real soup, thick enough to hold up a spoon. The soup makers from the Banff Fairmont (remember the beef barley soup sans the beef and barley) need to visit the Prospect kitchen for a few lessons in soup making!
Our entrees included Lasagna for Sheila, Pork Chops for Greg and Salmon for Diane and me. The meal was good though the fish was overcooked. Desserts were had and Greg and I polished off a bottle of SV.
Though it was Monday night, without a TV there would be no football for our foursome tonight.
